Assessment and Reporting

School reports

Parent Reports are issued twice a year at the end of Term 2 and Term 4. We report against the Victorian Curriculum and students are assessed and reports provided for a range of curriculum areas.

Parent Information Night

These sessions are run at the start of Term 1 and are intended for families to get information directly related to the learning community and how it will run for the year. They run for approximately 30 minutes and there is some time to ask staff questions at the end.

Three Way Conferences

Our Three Way Conferences are an opportunity to celebrate your child’s learning and achievements in their classroom, with their administration teacher. Your child will share their successes and progress with you. If you have any concerns about your child’s learning or other matters, please contact the teacher separately, as the focus of the conference will be to celebrate your child’s growth.

Your child’s work will be on display for discussion during your visit. on display in our learning space during your visit.

Bookings for the Three Way Conferences are made via Compass upon instruction from your child’s administration teacher.

Celebration of Learning

Generally occuring once a term, the Celebration of Learning is a casual, fun Learning Community-wide celebration and event where all families are invited to come to the classroom and view the children’s learning and achievements for the term. Kids love to explain what projects they have been working on, and teachers are onhand to discuss the projects and progress with families.

NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy is a national test conducted in March each year. Students in Years 3 and 5 complete individual tests in four areas (or ‘domains’):

  • Writing
  • Reading
  • Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
  • Numeracy

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has responsibility for the central management of the NAPLAN and a Test Administration Authority (TAA) in each state or territory is responsible for the implementation of the tests.

NAPLAN tests will be administered in schools via a national online assessment platform, except for Year 3 students, who will continue to sit the Year 3 writing test on paper.

The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals about student achievement, which can be used to inform teaching and learning programs.

NAPLAN tests provide point-in-time information regarding student progress in literacy and numeracy and are intended to complement teacher judgement and the wide range of formal and informal testing programs that are already used in schools.

To learn more about NAPLAN, please visit the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority website.
