Library

Our school library: a world of learning everywhere

At Brunswick East Primary School, students can borrow books on a weekly basis from their learning community library.

Our collection includes a wide variety of genres, from picture books to chapter books and non-fiction, designed to complement the literacy and reading skills students develop in the classroom.

This flexible and dynamic approach to reading allows for child-led exploration—students can choose books that excite and inspire them, making reading a fun and personalised experience. By nurturing this independence, we hope to build lifelong readers who take joy in stories and learning, both at school and at home.

Reading logs and take-home readers

To support our students’ reading journey, all children are provided with reading logs to monitor their reading, set goals, and celebrate their achievements.

Teachers check and swap take-home readers every week. These weekly check-ins provide a wonderful opportunity for communication between parents and teachers are a great way to stay connected with your child’s reading progress and support their literacy development.

Brunswick East Primary School acknowledges the over 85,000 years of care and Custodianship of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation for the lands and waters that it resides on. We pay respect to Wurundjeri Elders, past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Their sovereignty has never been ceded and this always was and always will be Aboriginal Land. We live, learn, and gather as a community on Wurundjeri Land and commit ourselves as Aboriginal people, Torres Strait Islander people, and allies for today and future generations, walking together.
