Introducing… the BEPS therapy dog… Stewie!
Stewie is a much-loved member of the Brunswick East Primary School community. This friendly chocolate Groodle is part of our wellbeing program and spends three days each week at school, supporting students and staff alike.
Stewie can often be found visiting classrooms, quietly sitting alongside students as they learn, listening attentively to stories, or joining in a game of fetch or tug-of-war during breaks. He has a special talent for helping children feel calm, confident, and connected, and is always available for a cuddle when someone needs a little extra comfort.
At lunchtime, Stewie enjoys relaxing with staff in the staffroom, and each morning he can usually be spotted in the front office, eagerly watching the front gates and ready to greet students and families as they arrive.
Stewie’s role is supported through the Dogs Connect program, which recognises the positive impact therapy dogs can have on student wellbeing, emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement in learning. Through his gentle presence and friendly nature, Stewie helps create a welcoming, caring environment where every child feels valued and supported.
We are very lucky to have Stewie as part of the BEPS family.
You can follow Stewie on Instagram @Stewie_at_beps.
We will post updates and information for the community here.
