Inquiry Learning at Brunswick East Primary School is incorporated into our literacy program as well as dedicated Inquiry learning sessions. Our Inquiry model encourages students to explore meaningful questions about themselves, their community, and the world around them. Through integrated units of learning, students develop curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of their place in society.
Our Inquiry program is carefully designed to build understanding across the year levels. Younger students begin by exploring their own identity, families, experiences, and immediate surroundings. As they progress through the school, students investigate communities, culture, history, sustainability, science and technology, citizenship, economics, and the diverse perspectives that shape our world.
Learning is connected to real-world issues and encourages students to ask questions, conduct research, analyse information, communicate ideas, and take action. Students explore topics such as belonging and identity, Indigenous perspectives, environmental sustainability, design and engineering, respectful relationships, democracy and citizenship, entrepreneurship, and the responsibilities we share as members of local and global communities.
By engaging in hands-on investigations, collaborative projects, discussions, and creative problem-solving, students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to become thoughtful, informed, and active participants in an ever-changing world.
