Intervention Programs

MiniLit and MacqLit

At BEPS we are committed to ensuring every student develops the literacy skills they need to thrive. Alongside our classroom literacy program, we offer targeted literacy intervention through MiniLit and MacqLit, evidence-based programs designed to support students who require additional assistance with reading and spelling.

Students are carefully selected for these programs through ongoing assessment and monitoring of literacy development throughout their time at the school. This rigorous approach ensures that support is provided to students who will benefit most from intensive, targeted instruction.

Introduced in 2025, our intervention program has already achieved strong results, helping students build confidence, strengthen foundational literacy skills, and make significant progress in reading and spelling. Delivered in small groups by trained staff, MiniLit and MacqLit provide explicit, structured teaching that complements learning in the classroom and helps students reach their full potential.

Brunswick East Primary School acknowledges the over 85,000 years of care and Custodianship of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation for the lands and waters that it resides on. We pay respect to Wurundjeri Elders, past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Their sovereignty has never been ceded and this always was and always will be Aboriginal Land. We live, learn, and gather as a community on Wurundjeri Land and commit ourselves as Aboriginal people, Torres Strait Islander people, and allies for today and future generations, walking together.
